An intellectual group of Liberian
Mandingoes in Philadelphia has invited
the leadership of the Liberian Mandingo
Association of New York (LIMANY) to
address an organized gathering in
Philadelphia this Saturday on Woodland
Avenue.
A release from the sustained forum named The Independent
Intellectual Forum of Philadelphia, which has become the
hottest genre where fellow Mandingoes meet daily to
discuss hot button issues affecting their community and
Liberia, says the forum will address numerous burning
issues including LIMANY intention to collaborate with
umbrella Federation of Liberian Mandingoes (FELMAUSA).
According to reports, the LIMANY
leadership headed by Bro. Abraham Turay has accepted the
invitation and will be there to address some of the
concerns from the community.
According to Bro. Varsay Konneh, Chief
Spokesman for the Forum, the concerned community members
will solicit views and suggestions from the LIMANY
leadership on FELMAUSA transition process as well as
LIMANY’s plans to work with FELMAUSA.
Some concerned members will also seek
clarification from the LIMANY leadership on a statement
made by one of its top executives who openly declared
sometime ago that he was not “in favor of Mandingo
unity…”
The Forum release signed by its
Chairman Mamadee Donzo says the Forum has invited high
ranking community leaders to grace the occasion.
Those invited include FELMAUSA
President Richmond Mohammed Konneh, who will be
presented by FELMAUSA Publicity Committee Chairman
Nvasekie Konneh, FELMAUSA President-Elect Mohamed Dukuly,
FELMAUSA Board Chairman Abraham Kromah, FELMAUSA VP
Administration-Elect Mohamed Kromah and Phamolie Morris
Kromah, FELMAUSA Secretary General-Elect.
There will also be several opinion
leaders and concerned members of our community attending
the Forum, Varsay disclosed and added that the event
will be held at the Four Season Boutique on 6643
Woodland Avenue, Philadelphia, PA 19142.
The sustained Forum which has gained
traction in the community was organized by a group of
concerned individuals with the purpose of openly
discussing issues and problems affecting the Mandingo
community home and abroad. The Forum solicits views and
suggestions from a cross section of ideas to help find
common grounds in resolving those burning issues.
Participants at the Forum discuss
variety of topics ranging from politics to social and
economic issues.
