Fourteen beautiful women from across Philadelphia and its surrounding counties have vowed to bring financial relief to less-fortunate children who don’t have access to quality education in Liberia.
Calling themselves the Diplomats, the
women
say they
have
already
begun
the
process
of
lending
hands.
They are
currently
sponsoring
two
students
at the
Muslim
Congress
and
Salafiyah
high
schools
in
Monrovia.
During a recent visit of one of the
group’s
founders,
Fatumata
Mansally
to
Liberia,
the
group
distributed
ten bags
of rice
among
some
impoverished
residents.
“We are
a social
group
that
will do
all it
can to
help our
people,”
said
Fatumata,
alias
Somie.
To make
their
dream a
reality,
the
Diplomats
formally
launched
the
social
group
Saturday
(Feb.
21st) in
Philadelphia
to the
delight
of
hundreds
of
residents
who
thronged
the
African
Cultural
Center
edifice
on 50th
and
Springfield
Ave. to
witness
the
historic
occasion.
Attired
in gold
and
black
outfit,
the
jubilant
Diplomats
elegantly
marched
into the
hall as
they
were
cheered
up by
the
audience.
Other
sister
organizations
including
the
Golden
Sisters,
Millionaire
Club,
United
Sisters
and
Sabare
graced
the
ceremony.
The Diplomats has Ms. Jataba Sheriff
as their
President.
Other

Sekou
Jena
warns
Sounding
strong
notes to
his
Diplomats,
the
"Father"
Sekou
Jena
warned
that he
would
quit the
group if
any of
its
members
is found
in acts
inimical
to
proper
behavior
in the
community.
"If I
see any
of you
in
gossiping
or doing
things
that
will
divide
people,
I will
leave
this
group,"
Sekou
said to
roaring
applause.
However,
the
"Father"
who
donated
an undisclosed
amount
to the
Diplomats'
Education
project,
praised
the
group,
noting
that he
accepted
the
honor to
serve as
the
group's
father
because
he sees
"quality
in these
young
women.
They are
people
of
exceptional
characters
in our
community
and I am
very
proud of
them."
He
called
on other
women
organizations
in the
community
to
emulate
the fine
examples
of the
Diplomats
to help
the
needy in
Liberia.
The star
of the
night
was the
Parrian
(Male
Special
Guest of
honor)
Amadu
Sangari
who flew
from
Texas
for the
event.
He
donated
$1200.00
towards
the
education
of
less-fortunate
Liberian
kids.
Other
contributors
include
the
Marrain
(Female
Special
Guest of
Honor)
Haja
Sanoe,
who
donated
$600.
She was
accompanied
by her
husband
Yaya
Sanoe;
Special
Invitee
Mariam
Bility
and her
husband
Lusine
Kamara
donated
$400;
Sam Kaba
donated
$500 and
Sabare
social
club
with a
$180
donation.
The
Golden
Sisters,
United
Sisters
and
Millionaire
donated
undisclosed
amounts
as
donations.
The
African
Youth
Association's
newly
elected
President
Isa
Fofana
donated
$113
followed
by other
community
members
who made
donations
towards
the
worthy
endeavor.

praised
the
Diplomats
and said
she was
proud to
be the
"Mother".
She
thanked
the
contributors
and
admonished
the
Diplomats
to make
sure
money
being
generated
must be
used for
its
intended
purpose.
