Bro. Nuoho Kenneth in the race come 2011

As we move closer to the 2011 General Elections in Liberia, there are petitioning ceremonies taking place every now and then. While the incumbents are fighting to keep their seats, there is no shortage of new faces joining the race for their seats in the Liberian legislature. Since being here in Liberia I have attended few petitioning ceremonies and Monday, November 29, 2010 was another petitioning ceremony for another young aspiring candidate, Nuoho Kenneth, who is entering the race for the District #9 legislative seat.

First, Mr. Kenneth was honored along with some prominent citizens in the community for their dedicated and self-less services to the community by the group, Inter Youth Organizations of Gardnersville which was followed later by the petition read on behalf of the group by another youth activist, Valee Konneh. Mr. Kenneth is one of the rising stars among the youth activists of Liberia who are yearning for change in their communities.

According to the youth activist and now a legislative aspirant, “if youths make up more than 60% of the electorates, they must be involved in the decision making process.” He believes that young people whose future is at stake should not sit down supinely and allow others to determine the future which will “affect our lives.”

 Below is the petition in its entirety as was read by the eloquent youth activist, Valee Konneh.

Where as the need for the proper representations of the Liberian populations at the level of the House of Representatives shall not be over emphasized for our national renewal;

Where as the reform of socio-economic, political and cultural pattern is the paramount concern of each and every meaningful Liberian;

Where as the need for the   people of District # 9 for durable and sustainable development for the advancement of their lives is glaring in the faces of the people of the district;

Whereas the need to have influence over decisions by the majority sector of the population, which is the youth community, that constitute over 60% of the total Population of Liberia;

Whereas the capacity building of the engine (youth community) of every society is vital to the poverty alleviations strategy campaigns, and to have any refined society there should be self actualization of every member of that society, and this is done with the involvement of the community people in both strategic planning for developments and their subcesequent implementation processes.

Whereas proper representation in representative democracy is done with the involvement of the people represented, which is to have constant visitations to the constituency, to unveil the plight and odds the community is faced with and then present those in a moderate and democratic ways so that your community can have its fair share of the national resources

And we the residents of District #9, having been fully aware of the problems confronting us as community, namely: the lack of basic necessity, social institutions, like proper public health centers, public schools, and also having been fully cognizant of the

difficulties  we undergo in getting to the city center every morning in search of our daily bread and coming back home in the evening we some time see our love ones, parents, children, brothers and sisters very late most often.

We, the Inter Youth Organizations of Gardnersville, are here today to petition Mr. Kenneth Nuoho to contest in the coming 2011 general and presidential elections as representative for District #9.  Mr. Kenneth is a son of the district, and he has contributed immensely to the human capacity building in and out of the district, such as teaching the youths in various institutions of learning.

Mr. Kenneth Nuoho is also noted for organizing youths for positive change, evidence of  that is that he is the brain behind the formation of this Inter Youth Organizations of Gardnerville, which under has undertaken this all important program. He is also the CEO and the president of the Desert Professional, a third division football club in the Iron Factory area.

Mr. Kenneth Nuoho has embarked on encouraging and preparing the female students for tertiary education, over 75 female students from the district has been registered and prepared by his organization National Youths Awareness and provided them tutorial classes for the entrance and also facilitate their registration processes if any of them is successful.

We therefore assure Mr. Kenneth Nuoho today that we will walk through the streets, mud roads, slums and ghettoes of district #9, we will canvass support from Barnesville Junction to Stockton creek bridge and from the gulf of new Georgia to the gulf of Chocolate city to make sure that total victory is ours.

Ladies and Gentlemen, our Honorees, Mr. Kenneth Nuoho is our choice and the choice of district # 9.

Long live our struggle for total justice

Long live the District

Long live our co-existence

Long live the people of Montserrado County

Long live the Republic

I thank you all!!!
